Sadly our house had close to zero original features left, as the previous owners…

Sadly our house had close to zero original features left, as the previous owners (or possibly the ones before them) had taken them out and left us with some 1970s (not in a good way) decor. The one thing we assume must be original and insisted we kept were the floorboards. They aren’t perfect but they came up really well and I love that you can see the old worn patterns and flecks of old brass nails in them! In the basement, we discovered the dividing doors which would have gone between these two rooms but we decided not to reinstate them for now, although I think they’d look pretty grand?

Absolutely beautiful. Your floorboards look similar to ours, I also love all the imperfections ♥️

  3. @edwardianhouseinharrogate ah thanks! The builders were reeeally trying to convince us not to do it but soo pleased we didn’t back down!

@sams_new_pad it’s made me much more relaxed when the kids drop metal cars on it. I can’t tell which are new dints and which are old….

  7. I loooove this fall ceilings!

You’ve done a beautiful job of reinstating the features. It’s crazy what people did before us. How could they possibly think that the features weren’t worthy??

We have the original dividing doors still in place but never use them. I did recently suggest that we take them out as it would mean we’d have more room for (much needed) book storage. Husband wouldn’t entertain the idea. Your floorboards look great, ours need a bit of a makeover

  10. @sams_new_pad it looks great! Fab room!

    This is a gorgeous room!

  12. Looking fab lovely! Our house is also missing all the Victorian features too, we did discover some broken up red tiles under the floor in the dining room, so I’m hoping we have nicer ones in the living room when the floor comes up x
