We call it the dining room wall, but really we tore down the dining room wall, fixed the sagging supporting wall by sistering in a new i-beam, and then reinforced the remaining studs with plywood to keep it all from twisting out of place as it holds up the attic a foot off from the basement supporting wall beneath it.
I don’t know much about house building, but so far I’ve learned where not to place a supporting wall, how to fake level floors, and what happens to drywall when you have to raise the right side of your house a few inches. So my new motto in life? If Janice can do it, I can probably learn how to fix it. #sorryjanice
